 FAQs

  • Postnatal recovery is, in an ideal world, a process led by your body and your family’s needs. There is so much you CAN take for granted about what your amazing body can do! AND in this modern life as a modern human in a modern environment, there is a bunch of stuff it’s pretty risky to take for granted. Like your pelvic health, deep core healing, postural retraining, sexual wellbeing in parenthood, returning safely to general exercise, remineralising your body after pregnancy, building a social world that supports your motherhood… So in our individual and group time we might cover any and all and more of this stuff. Claire has a wide range of manual therapy and holistic healing skills to draw upon, as well as her own experiences as a homeschooling mother of two.

  • Your initial assessment is dedicated to understanding your ‘baseline’ when it comes to important physical markers of post-pregnancy healing, such as your posture, joint alignment, organ position, abdominal muscle and pelvic floor function. We will also feel into what’s needed for your optimal emotional wellbeing in this time, as Claire works on the basis that body and mind are intricately related. Your 3 follow-ups are spaced monthly, and give us the opportunity to do any further hands-on work that is needed and go into more depth as you progress with your individual goals. Read about Claire’s unique skills set HERE.

  • During each of your 8 weekly classes, you will be guided to breathe and move better. You will gently and progressively rehabilitate your pelvic floor and deep core muscles, using Clinical Pilates, Therapeutic Yoga, and Natural (or Primal) Movement techniques. Inside your online exericse portal, there are additional supportive resources like how to do scar massage for c-section or vaginal birth, and how to know when you’re ready to return to high impact exercise.

  • At your individual sessions, Claire will provide assessment and feedback about key physical indicators of healing, such as your abdominal muscle separation or pelvic floor muscle function. Your online exercise time is another chance to get feedback based on your observations of what your body is doing, and ask Claire about this via email or at your next visit to the clinic.

  • After 10 years in her role as a women’s health physio, Claire is convinced this package format is the best way to help her much-beloved postnatal clients. In those first months with a new baby, it can be so difficult to make it to regular appointments, to be consistent with your home exercises, to calm the ‘worry mind’, and to find connection with other mums who ‘get you’. As your postpartum physio, Claire wants to give you only the best of her expert knowledge, in a timely, effective, and economical fashion.

  • This will depend on where you are up to in your recovery, and what your movement goals include. You will be working on foundational skills that support any kind of physical activity you choose to do, from walking to kite boarding! You can use your online exercises either to feel better and safer in your existing training, to heal any remaining challenges from your earlier postnatal period, or as a springboard to more intensity and impact when you’re ready. We will focus on mobility and control in key areas that are most challenged during your postpartum. Claire can refer you as needed to ongoing support with online or in-person services that are specific to postnatal bodies.

  • Any time from 6 weeks post-birth to 1 year postpartum. Yes, we understand that sometimes it really does take that long to become aware things are not getting better with time alone, and make that booking to invest in your recovery.

  • If you are covered for physiotherapy, you can definitely claim all the in-clinic sessions. You will need to check with your insurer if the online exercise component of the package is claimable for example as Postnatal Exercise, or Online Exercise services.

  • In unavoidable situations where you’re unable to continue in the postnatal care package you reserved, we will use compassionate discretion to offer a full refund where appropriate. You will receive all details about the cancellation policy upon making a booking.
